Doug Scott

Using professional acrylic paints, interior enamel and rust paints, I create unique abstract images in geometric and action painting styles. I focus on interesting shapes and vibrant colour in my geometric paintings. For my action paintings, I focus on line and rhythm.

The abstract art that I create is for those individuals or businesses that are looking to invest in a piece of contemporary abstract art at an affordable price.

I welcome all inquiries regarding my abstract artwork.

I was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba but grew up in Winnipeg, where I met my wife Sue. I began my business career in financial services at a major Canadian Bank in Winnipeg in 1980. In 1997 I left the Bank and joined a Credit Union Financial Services Company.

Through my forty-plus year business career, I was a recreational artist painting landscapes, still life, abstract cubist work and figurative paintings. Over the years I was inspired by a wide variety of artists such as the impressionists and post-impressionists, the cubist painters Picasso and Braque, the Group of Seven and a host of landscape, still life, figurative and abstract artists.

Initially, after my retirement in 2015, I painted recreationally in a number of different styles. In 2018 I attended an abstract painting workshop in Tucson, Arizona. Following that great experience, I decided to pursue painting more seriously. Since then I have been building a portfolio of abstract paintings.

In December 2018, I secured studio space at Flatland Artist Studios in Regina. It is a group of artists that includes painters, ceramic sculptors, potters, fabric artists, jewelry, photography and film artists.

In 2021, I won the Two Dimensional Award of Excellence for my painting “Round About Here” at the Art Gallery of Regina’s Member Show and Sale. In July 2022 I was asked to join the Regina Art Collective.

Looking forward, I would like to continue challenging myself in creating abstract paintings that resonate with individuals that are looking for something different in their homes and commercial entities that are looking to brighten up their workspaces
