Artist's Statement
I paint with my heart, not my head. It brings me joy and makes me smile. Through portraiture, I try to capture a moment in time — something that holds a memory of days past.
I like my sitter to like the person I have painted and the message behind the painting. There is a body language between the subject and the artist, and I try to honour that connection.
If I can relate that moment to the viewer and let them feel what I felt, then I’m happy with the results. I choose whatever medium best helps me transfer that feeling in that moment.
